Reusable shopping bags and the war on plastic waste.
It is estimated that flip and tumble's bags have replaced 19 million disposable plastic bags worldwide and counting! Using reusable shopping bags is a simple step shoppers can take to limit their amount of plastic waste.
A recent article published on Smart Company explored the impact of the now enforced bag ban law in Victoria. Businesses are now banned from handing out lightweight plastic bags to customers, risking up to $50,000 in fines. The ban has been implemented in an effort to tackle plastic waste in Australia. This is following the major grocery brands Woolworths and Coles own implementation of the single-use plastic bag ban last year.
Plastic waste is clearly a big issue on the mind of Australian consumers. On average people only use a plastic bag for around 20 minutes, yet it can sit in landfill for up to 1000 years. Clean Up Australia says Australians are the 2nd highest producers of waste, per person, in the world with each of us sending over 690 kilograms of waste to landfill each year. Plastic bags are particularly harmful as they last so long, so every year the number of plastic bags in landfill increases and currently only 3% of plastic bags are recycled. This waste can have a very negative impact on our environment, particularly on our wildlife.
This is an aspect of helping our environment that we can have a direct impact on, and take small steps towards making a difference. By saying NO to plastic bags and using reusable bags shoppers can have a positive impact on the war on waste. This is where flip and tumble reusable bags come in:
Plastic bags no more. Whether its the 24/7 reusable shopping bags, tote bags or backpacks; these bags are made to last. Flip and tumble design bags to be durable, therefore you can use them again and again, rather than being thrown away like other reusable bags.
The Recycled PET backpack is a key product that is tackling the issue of plastic waste head-on. The backpack is made out of 100% recycled PET plastic fabric which as well is made to last. If you are looking for a direct way to help fight plastic waste, this backpack is the perfect bag for you.
Plastic waste is a major issue affecting our environment. Using reusable shopping bags can be one small step to help fight this battle on plastic waste.
