Single Use Plastic Bag Ban Australia Wide by 2022
Great news, single use plastic bag bans will be Australia wide by 2022!
For most of the states and territories in Australia, single use plastic bags have been banned for a number of years with NSW being the last state to announce that single use plastic bags will be banned within 6 months.
As NSW has the largest plastic footprint, this announcement will mean a massive reduction in the amount of plastics going into Australia's oceans. It is estimated that up to one billion single use plastic shopping bags can be used by one state alone per year. While the majority of these plastic bags end up in landfill, around 16 million will end up in the environment.
When plastic bags get into our waterways and the marine environment, animals such as sea turtles and sea birds can swallow or become entangled in them. As well as their environmental impacts, littered plastic bags are difficult and costly to clean up and can clog up infrastructure.
Flip and tumble reusable bags are strong and durable designed to be used again and again. Our bags are lightweight and easily stashable - the perfect choice when doing your everyday shopping!
